Manhole cover, Belfast
Manhole cover located at the junction of Fairway Avenue and the Upper Malone Road in Belfast. It is from the foundry of Dudley and Dowell Limited, Cradley Heath, Staffordshire. Dudley & Dowell was located at the Whitehall Foundry in St Anne’s Road, Cradley Heath, until 1967, when they were taken over by the Brickhouse Foundry Group; the new company was known as the Brickhouse Dudley Group which traded independently until 1986 when it was acquired by Glynwed. The foundry closed for good in September 1999. See also Image
