Frog, Belfast
A fairly large Common Frog (Rana temporaria) seen sitting on a wall at Marlborough Park in Belfast. He was very happy to pose for photographs but, concerned for his welfare (he was close to the road), I moved him into some nearby undergrowth. According to "Reptiles and Amphibians of the UK" http://www.herpetofauna.co.uk/common_frog.htm the Common Frog will emerge "from hibernation in late February & spawning usually takes place in early March; occasionally the frogs will emerge sooner and spawn as early as January."

Sign, Marlborough Park South, Belfast
Although in a casing that was probably original to the street around 1900 - the sign itself likely dates from the 1980s.

The Flats, Marlborough Park South, Belfast
A 1970s addition to the street. It must be said they look quite out of character with the late Victorian townhouses which surround them. They are primarily for pensioners.
