Nos 108 (left) and 110 Eglantine Avenue, currently boarded up, for which there is planning permission for “Amendment to existing approval reference Z/2006/2232 for the demolition to existing dwellings and erection of 15no apartments which consists of the reduction of the footprint to apartments 3, 7, 11 and 14 and alterations to rear and side elevations”.

Now past the equinox as the autumn colours start to appear on the trees along Eglantine Avenue. The street is a long one running from the Malone Road (this end) to the Lisburn Road. Building started before 1880 when it had but 14 houses. By 1890 there were 24. The 1901 street directory shows it fully developed.

A short street running off the southern side of Wellington Park. Built for middle-class occupation towards the end of the 19th century it now contains houses of multiple occupation. There is a new development of apartments under construction on the far left of the photo.

A narrow street, off Wellington Park. The latter was started in the late 1870’s but Park Lane seems to have come along about 20 years later when it was home to a horse dealer/trainer and a posting establishment.

A large Victorian house, which seems to have been built between 1880 and 1890 (possibly originally no 5), subsequently converted to offices and now vacant. Offered for sale or to let and described by the agents as “The subject property comprises a three storey office building directly fronting Wellington Park. The building benefits from private car parking to the front for approximately 4 No. cars. There is potential to extend the building to the rear to create further office accommodation (subject to planning)”. This photograph appears as a matter of record only.
