Fermanagh Floods 2009 (8 of 19): Slee
After thirty-five consecutive days of rain in County Fermanagh throughout November 2009, the water levels on Lough Erne rose to 158ft above sea level (Ballyshannon). This was the highest since records began in 1956.
Here a gate is partially submerged - in the townland of Slee, on Inishmore Island.

After thirty-five consecutive days of rain in County Fermanagh throughout November 2009, the water levels on Lough Erne rose to 158ft above sea level (Ballyshannon). This was the highest since records began in 1956.
The extent of the flooding is very apparent here - the fog gives it a mystical look. In the townland of Slee, on Inishmore Island.
