The Catholic Chapel at Cloughcor
St Mary's Catholic church is located in a very rural area between Ballymagorry and Artigarvan. This not natural Catholic territory - the Artigarvan area is more than 94% Protestant. The extensive Foyleside parish which the church serves is known as Leckpatrick (Lech Padrig in Irish). The Welsh for this is Llech Padrig [=Patrick's stone] - the stone reputed to have been the place where St Patrick used to kneel to pray. Similarly the root of the name Cloughcor is an Irish word meaning "stone".

Ballydonaghty, Strabane
This is the area of flat ground along the Foyle. There are numerous drainage channels and the ground is remarkable dry, moreso that fields that I have seen in other areas. The channel is what we would call a sheugh.
