Showgrounds Retail Park
This new complex of shops off Sedan Avenue has proved to be a magnet for out-of-town shoppers. It is almost impossible to find a parking spot and the advent of wheel clampers is imminent. The area used to be owned by Tyrone Farming Society and was known as the Showgrounds. Activities used to include the Annual Agricultural Show, football matches, fireworks displays, the weekly market, and circuses.

In view a new mini and a real mini. In the background across the river Strule is the St Lucia Army Barracks. However the historical feature of this image is the mast in the background as several weeks later I happened to be in the same location and noticed it being dismantled Image]

Dismantling mast, St. Lucia Army Barracks, Omagh
For the first time in 60 years, Omagh has ceased to be a garrison town. The Army left the barracks several weeks ago. I happened to park the car at the retail park in Sedan Avenue and witnessed the communications mast being hoisted from its position. The last time it was seen in a picture is here Image]
