Inscribed stone, Donaghmore (1)
Looking west, St Joseph's School is in the background. The following text is included, "In 1920, the Parish Priest, Canon Joseph O'Neill invited the Daughters of the Cross of Liege to take up residence here, on the historic hill of Mullygruen. Having first established a hospital for a short time, the Belgian Order of nuns then founded St. Joseph's Convent Grammar School, enhancing the spiritual and cultural development of the community. They became an integral part of the parish of Donaghmore, and attracted a number of young local women to the Order. In October 2007, the last three sisters moved to their Convent in Dublin, thus bringing the Orders long and distinguished association with the area to an end."
