Development site, Lurgan (1)
A vacant building, at Windsor Avenue, offered for sale “with redevelopment potential subject to planning”. If my memory is correct this was the back entrance to Tesco before it moved to new purpose-built premises. This photograph appears as a matter of record only. I have no connection with any of the parties involved in the sale.

See Image The Coalbrookdale foundry turned out many cast iron products including fountains. This one, the Jubilee Fountain in Lurgan Park, dates from 1887. It was erected to celebrate 50 years of Queen Victoria’s reign. It overflows with superb detailing. Continue to Image

The lake, Lurgan Park
Lurgan Park was part of the grounds of nearby Brownlow House before passing into municipal ownership in 1909. It covers some 350 acres of which half is the lake. This is the view of the western shore.

Shankill Parish Church, Lurgan
In 1718, the Vestry of Shankill (in Irish sean kill = old church) agree to build a new Parish Church in the centre of Lurgan.
This is probably a later one, as the spire was completed in 1831.
