The Church of the Pentecost (CoI), Mount Merrion, Belfast (1)
A church, built in 1961/63, to design by Denis O’D Hanna, at Mount Merrion Avenue. He added it to an existing hall, built in 1956. The architect also designed St Molua’s, Stormont Image The material matches the surrounding, contemporary, houses – a successful design. Image shows the spire.

The New Stand, resplendent in the late evening sun. I had arrived early for a meeting and had the place all to myself. I was sorely tempted to run onto the pitch and score an imaginary try, against England of course.
