John Redmond plaque, Keady
The following text is included in the description, "John Redmond Irish Parliamentary Party Leader after Parnell visited Keady on his country wide tour during the vital 1918 General Election. Large crowds had gathered as it was the main monthly fair day. Redmond was held by the belt of his trousers from the second storey corner window of Fair Green House as he addressed a crowd of more than two thousand people assembled in Cow Fair and Lir Street below. The speech incited the crowds so much there was great disturbance and many were injured in the violence which followed." Pictured here Image]

Bridge Over Railway
The Keady Hill bridge over the old railway on Granemore Road. To the left is the old Scala Cinema. From the 50s to the 90s hundreds leaving Mallon's old cinema would have to walk down the road. The cinema closed many years ago, but a new footbridge was attached to the left of the road bridge because the fields over the hill were developed for housing. The railway was opened in 1909 and closed in 1957. Mallon's Cinema closed in the early 1990s and Keady has not had a cinema since.
