Grave marker, Knock Burial Ground
Cast iron grave marker for a William Gelston of Belfast who died in 1857. No other details are recorded but a William Gelston is listed in the 1852 Belfast Street Directory as a "merchant and tobacconist" of 40 Tomb Street / 8 Great George's Street in Belfast. These cast iron markers appear to have become popular in the mid 19th Century - this one includes the foundry mark on the reverse - see Image
