The sun caught my eye as it highlighted the different colours on the small trees at the bottom of my garden. The prevailing wind is from the west (right side of image) and the hawthorn is already scorched and browning on that side.

Looking towards the Church at Dhu Varren. The snow covering the ground had just fallen within the last half-hour. The roads were completely clear earlier that morning and it goes to show just how quickly things can change.

Goldfinch keeping watch
A goldfinch on a niger seed feeder. This is one of several who visit my feeders. Had a flock of 23 at end of September but with the change in weather and the presence of the local sparrow-hawk the numbers have dwindled to around 6.
