Motorcycle racing is dangerous!!
There is always a price to be paid in the gladiatorial arena and the Northwest 200 is no exception. One rider was fatally injured earlier today and this incident pictured shows Ballymena's Christian Elkin being taken off with a suspected broken leg after an accident involving Michael Dunlop during a thrilling 250cc race.

Paramedics attend to a fallen rider at the NorthWest 200
Paramedics attend to the fallen John Barton from the Isle of Man at the Juniper chicane. That's a race marshal which you can see riding past the scene in his white jacket. Shortly after this, the rider was on his feet and totally unscathed.

Red Flag! Red Flag!
There's been a collision near the Juniper chicane! John Barton from the Isle of Man and Robert Wilson from Argyll are both fallers. The bike which you see on its side is Robert Wilson's Kawasaki.

Approaching the Juniper chicane
Leaders in their field during the North West 200 Superbike race 2010; here we have Alastair Seeley (34), Stuart Easton (3), John Mcguinness (4), and Guy Martin (8). The North West 200 is the world's fastest race and attracts crowds of up to 130,000 spectators. It should be noted that Stuart Easton (3) rewrote the history books earlier this week when he was recorded doing 204mph on the speed-trap section of the circuit.
