Information, Ballycastle Glass Kiln
The following text is included in the description:
Glass Island
A semicircle of stones is all that remains of a thriving glass works built by Hugh Boyd in 1755 on what became known as Glass Island. "As complete a building of the kind as any in Europe", the 60ft wide, 90ft high conical glass kiln was part of a glass works that produced a constant supply of browny - green bottles. The coal, sand and lime it needed were all extracted locally.
