Coleraine railway station
Built in 1882 by the Belfast & Northern Counties Railway, this station replaced an earlier structure dating from 1855. While the old station still stands, a new combined road/rail station opened on 26 March 2001. Sadly, the Pullman Bar closed many years ago. For a more recent view, see Image

Railway bus, Coleraine
At one time NIR was subject to considerable disruption caused by what the media called “security alerts” ie “bomb hoaxes” to the rest of us. In the days before Translink, NIR had to hire substitute buses from Ulsterbus or Citybus. It solved the problem by buying three coaches which were painted in railway livery. One is seen outside Coleraine station as passengers board from a train just arrived from Belfast. The Londonderry line had been closed between Coleraine and Castlerock following a bridge strike by an oversize lorry. See also Image

Coleraine station
The present station dates from 1882 replacing the original one of 1855. Extensively modernised and now incorporating the re-built bus station (right). The railway entrance was inside the porch (seen in use in Image). It was closed on modernisation and replaced by a common one (second arch from the far right) also serving the bus station. There used to be a “Pullman Bar” (to the left of the porch).
