River Bann, Coleraine (1)
By the time the Bann has reached Coleraine it is nearing the end of its journey from Lough Neagh to the Atlantic. This is the view downstream from Kenvara Park off the Portstewart Road. The municipal marina can be seen to the middle right. The flower beds in the foreground are provided and maintained by the residents.

County Hall, Coleraine
The County Hall, Coleraine is on the Castlerock Road and enjoys an excellent view of the River Bann. This is the view from the pedestrian bridge which crosses the river close to the harbour and town centre. Image shows a completely different view in March 2012.

Railway bridge, Coleraine
The present bridge, carrying the Belfast (to the right) – Londonderry railway across the River Bann, opened in 1924 replacing an earlier bridge slightly further upstream. It is 800 ft long and has eleven spans. It cost £100,000. The span to the left of the operating house lifts to allow ships to pass. Continue to Image

The Coleraine salmon
This sculpture entitled “The Salmon” is by George Wyllie of Glasgow. It is 6.5m in length and shows a steel salmon about to leap over a stone weir. It is beside the car park at the Council offices and marina on the Portstewart Road.

Steam train crossing Bann Bridge
Preserved former GNR(I) 4.4.0 No. 171 "Slieve Gullion" crosses the River Bann outside Coleraine with the "Colmcille" rail-tour from Belfast to Londonderry. Typical for the Railway Preservation Society of Ireland of that era, the photographers are standing in a building site which later became a sewage works.
