Derry City Walls, Cannons Overlooking the Ship Quay
These seven, recently-restored cannon generally date from the seventeenth century, having been sent over from the City of London in 1642. The two nearest to the Shipquay Gate bear the Tudor rose-and-crown emblem and one has a date stamp of 1590. The cannons are mounted on replicas of mid-seventeenth century block carriages.
