Derry - Wall of Derry Castle Gate & Stairs from Top of Wall down to Magazine St
Location is near the northeast corner of the Wall of Derry where High Street becomes Castle Street at Castle Gate. View is to the southwest from the northeast side of Magazine Street.

Castle Gate [1]
One of the seven gates into the walled city.
The Walls were built in 1613–1619 by The Honourable The Irish Society as defences for early 17th century settlers from England and Scotland. The Walls, which are approximately 1 mile in circumference and which vary in height and width between 12 and 35 feet, are completely intact and form a walkway around the inner city.

Derry - Medieval Walled City - Nerve Centre, Magazine Street & Top of the Wall
View is to the southwest from the top of the wall above Castle Gate, where there are stone steps that descend from the top of the wall down to Magazine Street along & below the wall. This image is a bit deceiving, as the car is parked on Magazine Street, while the wide cobblestone walkway to the right of the car is the top of the wall, which is much higher than the narrow street below & within the wall. Note that steps (not shown) with a railing are shown at the back side of the car.
