Tamlaght O?Crilly: the post office
The village has had a post office since 1851 and I expect it has been in these exact premises for very many years - a deep, narrow shop squeezed in between the start of terraced housing on the right and a spacious garage forecourt to the left. Note the modern, pressed steel postbox of a design introduced in 2012 - more rust-proof than its cast-iron predecessor and also of less interest to the scrap metal market, hence hopefully less likely to be stolen.
