The Sixmilewater railway bridge, Antrin (1983)
NIR “DL” class locomotive 101 “Eagle” heads the 11.30 Portrush – Belfast Central across the Sixmilewater bridge on the (now mothballed) line to Lisburn. Not only did Londonderry/Portrush passengers have the comfort of MkII stock they also had the benefit of a dining car selling light refreshments. This view is no longer possible. The trees have grown sufficiently to hide the bridge from view on this side. Image shows the other side of the bridge in November 2012.
