O'Neill Coat of Arms
In 1999, Philip Mackey was employed by The Lord O'Neill to paint that piece as the original plaster had become the worse for weather. The hotel was at one time owned by The Lord O'Neills, hence his wish to have the Arms restored.
The motto in Irish, lámh dearg Éireann (an lámh dhearg na hÉireann) translates as the Red Hand of Ireland. Irish derivation of O'Neill is Ó Néill ("Descendant of Niall")
Philip, who is a heraldic artist and calligrapher from Letterkenny, Co. Donegal, called by last October to see if it still was on display. He found that it had been removed and the hotel was re-opened under new ownership.

Mini roundabout, Toome
Mini roundabout on the Moneynick Road at the junction of the Roguery Road in Toome. Prior to the construction of the Toome Bypass this way part of the main route between Belfast and Derry/Londonderry.
