More of the emerging 'Titanic Quarter' construction work in Belfast. This is another part of what will be 'The Arc' on the Queen's Road. The view is towards Queen's Island. The old paint hall Image and drawing office Image can be seen beyond.

New Public Records Office for Northern Ireland, Belfast
The existing Public Records Office for Northern Ireland Image is in a residential area, with limited car parking and remote from the city centre. In truth it was a bit of a relic from the 1960’s. This is the new building in the Titanic Quarter. Due to open in mid-2011. This link to PRONI’s website has information about the move http://www.proni.gov.uk/. Continue to Image

The new Public Records Office for Northern Ireland, Belfast (3)
See Image The new building, nearing completion. PRONI currently holds some 33 miles of records, some dating from the 14th century. The move, from Balmoral Avenue, will take about a year to complete with inevitable disruption to the service available to the public.

The Public Records Office for Northern Ireland, Belfast
See Image The building now seems to be complete and has external signs identifying it as PRONI. It is not, however, open to the public pending the transfer of records from the old site at Balmoral Avenue. The date of re-opening is still given as April 2011. This photograph has no connection with the Office and appears as a matter of record only to show the appearance of the building. You should contact PRONI direct or visit its website http://www.proni.gov.uk/ before making any arrangements such as a personal visit etc.
