The SS 'Nomadic' at Belfast
The SS 'Nomadic' http://www.geograph.org.uk/search.php?i=28267976 is a steamship of the White Star Line, launched on 25 April 1911 in Belfast. She was built as a tender to the liners RMS 'Olympic' and RMS 'Titanic', and is the last remaining vessel built for the White Star Line still afloat. Returned to Belfast in 2006 the 'Nomadic' is now housed in the Hamilton Graving Dock and is being restored as a visitor attraction. In the background is the new Titanic Signature Project, due to open on the 31st March 2012.

Titanic Belfast
This spectacular building houses “The Titanic Experience”, a visitor attraction and monument to Belfast's maritime heritage which tells the stories of the ill-fated Titanic, which hit an iceberg and sank during her maiden voyage in 1912.
The angular form of the building is supposed to recall the shape of ships' prows, with its main "prow" angled down the middle of the Titanic and Olympic slipways towards the River Lagan. It is located on Queen's Island, the area of land at the entrance of Belfast Lough which was occupied by the shipbuilders Harland and Wolff before the decline of shipbuilding in Belfast left much of the area derelict. The derelict land was renamed the "Titanic Quarter" in 2001.
The spectacular building, now known as Titanic Belfast, opened in March, 2012 and has proved to be a very popular attraction. Originally expected to attract 425000 visitors annually, first year visitor numbers significantly exceeded projections, with 807,340 visitors passing through its doors, of which 471,702 were from outside Northern Ireland (http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/opinion/columnists/press-feed/foster-welcomes-boost-for-cruise-industry-29342332.html Belfast Telegraph).

"Titanica" statue, Belfast
The "Titanica" statue is sited directly in front of the main entrance to "Titanic Belfast". It was created by Rowan Gillespie and is a "bronze sculpture with a high-bolted brass base is a life-size female figure, similar to female figureheads which historically rested on the bows of ships as a symbol of good fortune" (from http://insideireland.ie/2012/03/27/statue-unveiled-at-titanic-belfast-63002/ ).
