The Greenisland estate near Carrickfergus
The Greenisland estate (top) was built by the Northern Ireland Housing Trust in the 1950’s. Before then Greenisland had mainly consisted of private houses along the Station Road and those at the bottom of the photo. The Belfast – Larne Harbour railway runs across the middle. The view is from the war memorial at Knockagh Image

Island platform, Greenisland station
Greenisland had a down platform and, on the up side, an island platform. The former was not normally used. The latter was served by all trains. The 13.00 Belfast York Road – Larne Harbour (734,774,96) is on the left. The “Sealink” set (72,725,701) is on the right with the 13.05 Carrickfergus – Belfast York Road. The station was re-modelled in 1985 as part of the re-signalling of the Larne line and now has conventional up and down platforms . The face on the right is not now connected.
