This contrasts with the new bungalows built in this area. The road on the opposite side of the valley, drained by a headwater of the Cusher River is the Carrowmannan Road.

Trees near derelict cottage
These trees, planted as shelter for this now abandoned house, form a conspicuous feature in the landscape. Camlough Mountain, Sturgan Mountain and Slieve Gullion form the background. During The Troubles the summits of these hills were used by the BA as the sites of permanent observation points.
