The vestibule of the Quaker Meeting House
This disused meeting house was erected in 1722. William Penn is reputed to have visited the town and lodged in the Town Inn. The most prominent Quaker family in Rathfriland for many years were the Murphys. Persecution led most to emigrate to the New World. The last Quaker in the town, Joe Murphy continued until his death to meditate alone in the Meeting House.
