A northern spur of the hill on which the town of Rathfriland stands
Rathfriland is built on the summit of a prominent hill. Beyond it, the Ballyroney basin tends to be in parts waterlogged. Areas of wetland are frequent. One can be seen on the left of the photograph. Hill slopes and drumlins provide the best farming conditions.
