Fishing boats at Kilkeel (1)
The mussel dredger “Dingenis Jan” was one of three boats in the boatyard. (Note – the Google map bears only a passing resemblance to reality for this part of Kilkeel harbour).

HM Coastguard Station, Kilkeel/Chill Chaoil
The station, situated on Harbour Road, acts as the base for the South Down Coast Rescue team.

It was near to this station that the two Tudweiliog men landed in March 1933 after some thirty six hours drifting in an open boat across the Irish Sea.

Newbuilding, Kilkeel harbour
A trawler under construction at Kilkeel (also seen in Image). She was, if my memory is correct, the third such boat built locally from something akin to a “kit”. See also Image and Image
