The Kilkeel Brethren preparing to depart for the Ulster Covenant Parade at Belfast
Seven or eight coaches were lined up in Newcastle Road for an early start to the two hour journey to Belfast. The Ulster Solemn League and Covenant, was signed by just under half a million men and women from Ulster, on and before 28 September 1912, in protest against the Third Home Rule for Ireland Bill, introduced by the British Government in that year.
