The Newry High School
This is a controlled comprehensive school. Controlled schools differ from Roman Catholic managed schools in that the employers are the regional education and library boards. Many still retain links with one or other of the main Protestant denominations with members of the governing board nominated by the churches. Newry High School's origins can be traced to final decade of 19th century and it has undergone several name changes; from Newry Intermediate School to Newry
Grammar School in 1948 and then to Newry High School in the 1966.
