Our Lady of the Assumption Church and HINI Hostel, Downs Road, Newcastle
This modern church has architectural echoes of the Catholic Cathedral in Liverpool. The first house to the right of the church is the Newcastle HINI (Hostelling International Northern Ireland) Youth Hostel. Both are pleasantly located on the sea front. Slieve Donard dominates the background.

A poster for yet another Northern Ireland Assembly election
In Newcastle, as elsewhere, Sinn Fein were quick off the mark when it came to electioneering for the March 2017 Stormont election. A day or two after the executive collapsed over a botched green energy scheme Sinn Fein had their posters up on the town's lamp posts. The other parties are still to get their act together, but they will. Unlike the political parties on the British mainland, the Northern Ireland groupings, Nationalist and Unionist, in common with politicians in the Republic, still retain a great fondness for the election poster and spend lavishly on erecting thousands of them.
The Drinneevar ridge forms the background to the image.
