This was one of the dispersed residential units of the nearby RAF Bishop's Castle also known as RAF Ringawaddy, a WWII airfield.

Former military accommodation at Ballyhornan
These temporary accommodation units were put up for personnel stationed at RAF Bishopscourt. When the troops left many were left vacant. Thankfully some have seen reuse as holiday chalets.

Cable Bar, Ballyhornan
Ballyhornan was the terminus of an undersea cable beneath the Irish Sea which provided communications with mainland Britain and, via the Rugby Wireless Station, with North America.
