Market Street, Downpatrick
A line of traffic makes its way through the lights at St. Patricks Avenue. The queue can be seen stretching off in the distance along the Ballydugan Road. Downpatrick serves a reminder of what traffic was like on the N1 through Drogheda before the M1 bypass opened.

St. Patrick's Square, Downpatrick
A pedestrianised yet very empty part of town - there tends to be more bustle along Market Street. Nevertheless the impressive St. Patrick's Centre sits to the left. St. Patrick is a feature of many things in the town - given that the man himself is buried just yards from here.

Down Cathedral
As cathedrals go, Down Cathedral is quite small but its connection with St Patrick and it history of building, destruction and rebuilding gives it a special air. It is said to have its origins in the medieval period but was in ruins when visited by Wesley in 1778. Restoration started in 1790 but consecration did not take place until 1818.
