Franklin Street, Belfast (2)
Franklin Street (seen from Brunswick Street) is the next street to the south of Image Windsor House Image is on the left at the tree. The street lasted a bit longer than James Street South in manufacturing and (if my memory is correct) Kennedy’s shirt factory was the last to go (second building on the left). Image shows the view in towards Brunswick Street.

Bedford Street, Belfast (2)
See Image The view along Bedford Street, from the City Hall end, towards the Dublin Road. The “Causeway Exchange” is on the right – originally a 70’s monstrosity (and called “Griffin House”), clad in dingy concrete panels but nicely re-clad, in red brick, a few years ago. Very quiet on a Sunday morning but can be a bit hectic during the evening peak.

"Linenopolis", Bedford Street, Belfast (December 2018)
See Image Now occupied by “Linenopolis”. “‘Linenopolis’, a new “pop-up” visitor experience and store has opened in Bedford House, in the heart of Belfast’s historic Linen Quarter. Located opposite the Grand Central Hotel on Bedford Street, it’s the first ever experience on the island of Ireland wholly dedicated to linen – providing both an insight to its social, economic and cultural history and a showcase for the best in contemporary linen brands as part of the first Linen Biennale. In a nod to the heyday of linen in Belfast, ‘Linenopolis’ includes story boards, images and artefacts highlighting the city’s linen heritage, accompanied by 33 leading linen entrepreneurs including Katie Larmour, Mourne Textiles, Flax Fox, 31 Chapel Lane and Placed Ireland displaying their artisan wares. Belfast Lord Mayor Councillor Deirdre Hargey officially opened the temporary attraction, which was conceptualised and produced by the Central Business District, with support from the Linen Biennale and Heritage Lottery Fund” - Council press release dated 10 August 2018.
