Flyover site near Dromore (1)
The road between Sprucefield Image and Loughbrickland Image was built, in the 1970’s, as an all purpose dual carriageway with right and “U” turns allowed. There are also numerous gaps in the central reservation to allow right turns from private lanes and individual houses. Five grade-separated junctions have been (or are being) built and a few gaps have been closed in recent years – see Image, Image, Image, Image and Image Another four are planned over the next nine years, including one here at Mullan’s Corner Image, south of Dromore. This is the view towards Banbridge at the staggered crossroads where the Gowdystown Road (partly a “B” road and partly an unclassified road - connecting Waringsford and Blackskull) crosses the Belfast – Dublin road. Ruined building at Mullan's Corner
I have been travelling between Banbridge and Belfast since 1967. This old building at Mullan’s Corner, near Dromore, beside the Belfast-Dublin road, has always been a ruin. It might have been an old farmhouse or corn mill. The steps on the left-hand side suggest the former but they might just as easily have been used to reach upstairs storage. Any information will be gratefully received.
