Corner protector, Newtownards
One of a pair of corner protectors on a shop at Regent Street, Newtownards. The entrance is now for pedestrians only, but I imagine it was once intended for coaches. The foundry name where it was cast has been obscured by paint or has worn away.

Mary Street, Newtownards
The street is dominated by the Strean Presbyterian Church. This congregation was formed following a quarrel over the appointment of a new minister for the town's 1st Presbyterian Church. The unsuccessful faction left to form a church of their own, a not uncommon occurrence in Ulster Presbyterianism. The new church, opened in 1866, was bank rolled by Thomas Strean, a wealthy businessman of the town.

Stone plaque, Newtownards
Stone plaque built into a house in West Street, Newtownards - see
Image
The house that the plaque is on is not number 38, so this must have been from an earlier property (perhaps not even on this street). The full text reads:
"No. 38 built by Matthew Patterson 1769".
