Drain cover located on Beatrice Road in Bangor. It is marked 'James H. Savage, Bangor'. James Savage was a building contractor who worked and lived in Bangor in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Among the properties he constructed in the town are houses on the Ballyhome Road in the 1890s, the Dufferin Memorial Hall Image in 1905 and most of the houses on Shandon Drive in the 1920s (these are only a few examples I am sure of, undoubtedly there are many more). James Savage himself was living at Mount Herald on the Ballyholme Road in the 1880s - this is described in Image

A former taxi office (now vacant), at the Bingham Street end of the Beatrice Road Image, offered for sale. This photograph appears as a matter of record only. I have no connection with any of the parties involved in the sale.

Recently installed BT "Street Talk 6" payphone on High Street in Bangor. This replaced an older version seen in Image (I understand, through reading the local press, that BT want to replace many of the older boxes in the town with these but, as each requires planning permission, local councillors are stalling).

The southern end of Alfred Street which runs off High Street. I doubt if this view has changed much since the houses were built.

Cast iron corner protector on a house at the far end of Alfred Street in Bangor (see Image). I think that this was placed here to protect the house from damage from passing cartwheels. Any other details or information would be welcomed. Cast in Belfast, it bears the mark of the Millfield Foundry.
