Excavation at Bangor West station
In 2001/02 the Belfast – Bangor line received a long overdue renewal. This included the provision of new drainage (minimal or non-existent previously) and new track. Excavation under way on the down line at Bangor West station. The state of the existing drainage is obvious.

MV 104 at Bangor West - 1989
Although not intended for passenger use when bought by Northern Ireland Railways from CIE, the MV class diesel locomotives (former CIE class B201) proved popular on enthusiast excursions. Hauling vintage coaches preserved by the Railway Preservation Society of Ireland, MV No. 104 enters Bangor West station with the Irish Traction Group's "Bangor Belle" railtour.
