Newtownards Road roundabout, Bangor
The Newtownards Road roundabout is one of five on the Bangor ring road. It is also the busiest. Just as I was returning my camera to its bag I heard the distinctive “nee-naw” from the nearby fire station. This is the result. Note: part of the roundabout is in J5080.

Rathgael House, Bangor
Rathgael House, beside the Rathgael Road roundabout on the Newtownards Road, was built (with an adjacent factory) for occupation by the business owned by the carpet maker Cyril Lord Image After the fall of that empire it was acquired (early 1970’s) for occupation by the Department of Education - then based in Dundonald House Image The brick building (right) is a much later addition. Last seen in Image (July 1986).

Wind turbine, Bangor (3)
See Image and Image The turbine is impressive when seen from below or from a distance. Despite a height of 55 metres and a blade length of 24 metres, it looks a bit scrawny when seen over the rooftops of the local buildings – in this case from Balloo Drive. Image shows the sensors.

Wind turbine, Bangor (4)
See Image The view from Balloo Way. The “Sensors on the turbine detect wind direction/speed enabling the hub to rotate (yaw) to catch the wind” can be seen, on the hub, between the blades on the right.
