Nos 48-50 Fountain Street, Belfast (detail)
Modernised many times at ground floor level (now occupied by “Past Times”) – the building dates from 1888 and was built as a spirit warehouse. The architect was one Godfrey Ferguson who, it seems, was influenced by the Queen Anne style.

Waterstones on Fountain Street in Belfast. "Spare", hugely hyped and publicised, recently became the fastest selling non-fiction title in the UK https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-64226729 . I didn't purchase a copy but may borrow it from the Library.... Alongside are the John Hinde https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Hinde_(photographer) postcards which continue to sell.

Banqueting Hall, Belfast City Hall
The view is looking towards the gallery. The hall features a vaulted dome and the walls are in carved oak. There are a series of stained glass windows showing the Royal Arms and those of Lord Donegall and Lord Shaftesbury. When there is a function held in the hall a covering is out over the carpet as it would take at least a dozen men to roll each section and carry it out. The carpet is so fine a quality that it has an expected life of at least 50 years.

First Trust Bank sign, Belfast
In a magnificent piece of corporate gobbledygook this week, the AIB Group announced “The distinct assets that we plan to sell principally comprise our UK business”. This includes the First Trust Bank Image the logo of which is identical to that of AIB. It will be a victim of the sale. This one is outside a branch in Donegall Square North.
