Military plaque, Belfast
I admit that I have passed this plaque many, many times without stopping to look at it. It records the founding of the 35th Regiment of Foot http://www.btinternet.com/~the35thfootproject/origins.html by Arthur Chichester (who owned much of Belfast and surrounding area) in 1701. It is on the former Anderson & McAuley’s store Image in Donegall Place. See also Image

The eastern side, between Castle Lane and Castle Place. The southern part of the street, between Castle Lane and Donegall Square North, had shoppers but not nearly as many as might be expected in normal circumstances. Taken at 11.20 am.

Primark (Bank Buildings) fire, Belfast - August 2018(16)
The fenced-off site at Donegall Place. This is normally late-night shopping but there were few people about save for those taking camera-phone photographs. There were more people in Ann Street than Donegall Place - not a common event.

"Pound World", Belfast
A “Pound World” in Donegall Place (Donegall Square on the Google map). The idea of a “£1” shop in Donegall Place would have been unusual before the recession.

Donegall Place, Belfast
Donegall Place on a warm Sunday afternoon. Quite a contrast with the scene during lockdown Image with plenty of shoppers about. Probably not as busy as pre-Covid though and sadly there are numerous shops which have completely ceased trading, most likely a result of the pandemic.
