The President Buchanan Mural on Woodvale Road
Succeeding Franklin Pierce, James Buchanan - not the best known US president - was in office between March 4, 1857 – March 4, 1861. He was succeeded by Abraham Lincoln. The Buchanans were Ulster Scots, the father hailing from Donegal.

The gates of Woodvale Park
Woodvale Park was opened to the public in 1888, the land having been purchased by Belfast Corporation from the Rev. Octavius Glover.
