32-44 Caledonia Place, Bristol
The eastern is the more modest of the street's pair of terraces (
Image]), but characteristically dignified. It is some fifty years older, being built c1788, by John Eveleigh. Three-bay houses, the more usual three storeys above ground. The middle and one end house have pediments which are somewhat overwhelmed by the length of the terrace. Grade II* listed.

Mall Gardens, Clifton, Bristol
They were originally private gardens for residents of the terraces on each side, begun in the late 18th century: Caledonia Place to the south, left, and West Mall to the north, right. The view is west from The Mall. The gardens fell into disrepair during and after the Great War – landlords and gardeners were fighting or fallen. In time they came into the care of Bristol City Council as public gardens. The yellow-flowered spike is a variety of mullein (Verbascum); the white flowers are Ox-eye Daisies.

The Mall Gardens, Bristol
Bounded by the Mall on the east and the Avon Gorge to the west, the gardens were originally private gardens for the adjacent residences in the late 18th C. They fell into disrepair during WW1- the railings used for scrap and general neglect, which led to the remaining residents making arrangements with the City Council to take on the care of the gardens. The gardens then became public. Local residents still play a part in the maintenance of the gardens, organising working parties and fundraising for improvements.
