Vyvyan Terrace, Bristol
Richard Shackleton Pope's spectacular terrace is a monumental composition of nineteen three-bay houses. It's broken up symmetrically into five sections, the ends with giant pilasters (Image]), a central giant Ionic colonnade (Image]), and loggias in the linking sections. Building began in 1833 and continued until 1847. Grade II* listed.

Vyvyan Terrace, Clifton Park
Terrace, probably by R S Pope between 1832 and 1846, 19 houses, the end blocks of three projecting slightly forward with two-storey colonnade/pilasters. Limestone ashlar, neoclassical style, Listed Grade II*. Named after Sir Richard Vyvyan, MP for Bristol 1832-7, referred to in the listing description as 'infamous' although nothing in his Wikipedia biography https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sir_Richard_Vyvyan,_8th_Baronet supports this. There is a bench mark http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5444326 on the portico in the side road (Lansdown Road).

A Swedish gymnasium in Bristol
Curious to see such a place in the heart of Clifton. However, it may be that this was formerly the residence of a diplomat: built in 1893 along Vyvyan Terrace it is believed that he specifically ordered its construction. By the 1920s, it was bought by prima ballerina, Miss Phyllis Bedells, who founded the dance school that still uses the property. See Image] for a look at the whole site.

Room to exercise and express
The building seen here is inscribed as a Swedish gymnasium. It has occupied a part of the garden of a property but these days is a dance school. See Image] for a closer look at the entrance.
