Raise your glasses, please
Dear old Alan 'Adge' Cutler lives on in the many recordings of the 'Scrumpy and Western' music the Wurzels played. Here, outside the Royal Oak where the band played on many a cider-filled night, is a bronze statue in his memory. Someone has made sure his glass has not run dry. Cheers, Adge!

The Royal Oak bears up to the name
Nailsea's famous pub dates from the eighteenth century, and retains some of its original features. An oak does indeed stand at its entrance! Most pubs of this name refer to the occasion in 1651 when the future Charles II was on the run from the Roundheads and sought cover in an oak tree after the battle of Worcester.
