High Littleton cemetery
The little parish church of Holy Trinity stands in fairly small grounds, but was actually the final resting place for over two thousand parishioners. It became obvious that more grounds were needed and so the locals moved to provide them. On Friday 19th May, 1893, half an acre of land beside Rosewell Farm was acquired by voluntary subscription. Mrs Marianna Mogg, widow of John George Mogg of Farrington Manor House, allowed the rented farmland to be opened as a new burial ground. The land was levelled, and resown with grass and trees at a cost of £220. Mrs. Mogg also provided a lych gate at her own expense. A week later, Fanny Brown of Hallatrow, aged 52, (and one of the Plymouth Brethren) became the first person to be buried in the new churchyard.
