Former Market Toll House, Thornbury
Now part of Wildings department store http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3416177 this little building in High Street used to be the toll house for the local market. One source is not certain exactly how the toll house operated, but suggests that perhaps traders of cattle and other animals were charged a fixed rate for each animal brought to market to be sold, and that the income was given to the Lord of the Manor.

The White Lion, Thornbury
The eye-catching feature of this High Street pub is the large white cast-iron lion on top of the projecting Doric porch. The nearby Swan http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3406095 had the same idea.

On the Doric porch is a larger-than-life depiction of a swan at the entrance to the High Street pub.

Thornbury old fire station 2, Market Hall, High Street, Thornbury, Avon, which was used for a short time at the beginning of the 20th century. Now occupied by Wildings store. Anoth erof Thornbury's old fire stations still exists further along the High Street (see Image)
