A prepared strip
Some noticeably shorter grass cutting along this part of the fields. The earthworks of The Toot are a little shallow here and the owner has made a circular end of the line. It suggests a sort of fairway and green, but there is no obvious golfing to be seen.

The end of The Toot
The ancient earthworks that form a rough circular enclosure in Oldbury-on-Severn is at least Iron Age and possibly older. The evidence is not especially clear but it seems to also have had Roman occupation (as is often the case with hill-forts). The southern end of the earthworks are more indistinct here but the sheep don't seem to worry - they can easily trot up the slope.
