Pets Plus, East Street, Bedminster
Along the road there are many old shops that have been here for well over a hundred years. However, this one has added to the rich architectural texture with this suitable moulding. See Image] for a closer view.

All tastes catered for
The proprietors of this pet food shop in East Street have an eye-catching design above the entrance. It was created in the early 1990s by local artist and sculptor Steven Joyce. He is also responsible for works in Bristol, such as the fireman statue by the old fire station on Temple Back and also the prominent Rodin-esque sculpture of Cabot on the old dock. See Image] for a broader view of the shop. Update: the shop is no longer one that caters for pets, but the work has remained above the entrance.

Colonnade and clock
For many years the clock was an essential feature of East Street, Bedminster. Outside the old cigarette factory it was retained, along with the frontage, when the factory was demolished in 1986. The original red brickwork was sympathetically mirrored by the new colonnade - an open walkway in front of new small shop units.
