A country citizen cleft
This oak must be quite some age but has not avoided a major loss. The large bough has come away from the rest of it, providing a stark remnant. The living part where the section used to be attached to has a carving, with the number '13'. Perhaps this dates the damage to 2013?

A cleft in the oak
A quite large bit of lumber has come away from the rest of the oak tree. The bark-less wood still provides a habitat for many different species, and seeing as it is a hardwood it may remain so for many more years.

Going with the sap flow
A large bough of an oak has parted company and shed its bark, leaving some splendid flowing grain. The image does not give much scale, but the section here was about two feet in thickness. Image converted from colour original.

Beware of the stream
A hefty piece of timber (probably oak) lies across an opportunity to reach the stream near Queen Charlton. The field is used by cows, so perhaps this keeps them from getting stuck.
